Scouts meet on Friday evenings between 7.00 and 9.00pm (or thereabouts!)

Scout leaders - Fiona Scott SL, Ewan Scott - GSL

Both have Red Cross First Aid, Both are Archery Instructors, both have Canal Boat Charge Certificates and Kayak Authorisation.

Scouts from 7th clearing rubbish from the DearneSlowly and steadily built up from small numbers it it had risen to around 36 before the programme review. However, numbers have settled now at around 30.

Pity there isn't an Arson Badge - this lot will burn anything ....The Troop is, like the rest of the Group, mixed, and with mixed age, mixed sex Patrols it is the ideal for everyone to be friends with everyone else. Of course we fall short from time to time, but when called upon to work together the Scouts can really pull out the stops. Ask anyone who has been invited to our Christmas Party.

County Cooking Champs - for the fifth time!Camping and traditional Scout activities make a large part of the programme. We don't really get bogged down in the uniform debate. There has never been a complaint from anyone about the uniform, not even the ones who fell by the wayside. We accept it and get on with it. It is noticeable that most of our Scouts are quite happy to show their uniform in public.

Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme. "Participation" rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes

Scouts at the 7th organise their own camps, some meetings, and decide on what they want to do. The leaders just facilitate what is wanted , or generate some ideas.

Being outdoors is important and half the Programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to yachting.

The international aspect gives Scouting a special appeal and many Scouts now travel abroad during their time in the Section, or start planning for trips as Explorers.

Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of life.
