Pioneering

This is a real Scouting activity, perhaps the only Scoutcraft activity which Scouts still do more of and better than anyone else. Building bridges, catapults and structures out of wooden poles and ropes.

It is all about teamwork and individual skills blending to make the impossible possible. Building 4 or 5 metre towers, rope bridges, swings, which can weight as much as a tonne when all the component parts are put together. All built by Scouts.

We used to be  heavily involved in the County Pioneering Course and provided a number of Instructors for the event and take part in the camp twice each year. We now run Pioneering "in-house" and offer the activity as a training course for District.

In 2002 we also provided Pioneering for Bingley District Beavers Fun day and formed over half of the team for the Pioneering base at the Chief Scout's Camp.
