Kayaking and Canoeing

This is rapidly becoming a core activity. We have Four BCU Level Two Coaches and two L2 Trainees. All four of our L2 Coaches have begun training to L3

One of our coaches surfing

at SlenningfordThe aim is that we can offer an adventure activity for camps and also be able to run BCU Star courses for our own Scouts and Explorers. It is also our intention to widen the scope of this facility to encompass Canadian Canoeing, and Placid Water skills.

We work closely with other Instructors in West Yorkshire and run pool sessions over the winter to ensure that "wet" skills can be introduced to beginners before they hit the cold water at Pugneys or Huddersfield Broad Canal.

Anyone interested in joining the kayak activity needs to first join the Group, However, we also hope to be able to offer the activity to other Scout Groups and Guides who show an interest.

For how we are raising the money see here .
