Clayton West Explorers have been getting active. Canoeing and walking sessions over the winter have seen skill levels increase considerably in both activities. There have been a number of walks, training candidates for their DoE Awards, plus canoe sessions on the Calder and Hebble Canal at Calder Grove and at Mirfield where paddlers were introduced to canoe skills in addition to their existing kayaking ability.
There are a number of walks and paddling sessions planned to take the programme up till August, plus there are a number of camping opportunities for Scouts and Explorers.

Welcome to Clayton West Scouts
The aim of these pages is to tell you more about who we are and what we do. By clicking on the buttons to the left or right you can visit each section or activity.
Clayton West Scout Group was revived in the early 1970's continuing Scouting in Clayton West and Scissett from the 1920's.We have a long heritage and we hope that Scouting will be a part of the local community long into the future.
Our members come mainly from Clayton West, but we also draw from Denby Dale, Emley, Scissett, Skelmanthorpe, Shelley, High Hoyland and Lepton. Ages range from 6 upwards and we are mixed sex throughout the Group.
We have no affiliations to any religious body and offer an open membership based around traditional principles which we believe are common to all beliefs.
People wishing to join Scouts should contact the Scout Leader to check on availability. Clayton West Scout Group now has a waiting list for Beavers and Cubs. Depending upon the time of year there may be a waiting list for Scouts. Parents wishing their child to join Beavers or Cubs will need to put their names on a waiting list. Please contact the Beaver and Cub Leaders.
If you have any questions you can contact us using the buttons on the left.

Tuesday Cubs Growing
Tuesdays Cub Pack is Growing
TheTuesday night Cub Pack runs from 6:30pm until 8:00pm and is led by Marcus Glennon, Shona Tutin and Russell Haggata.
Members of the pack have recently taken part with their friends in the Wednesday night pack in an overnight event at Eureka, and will shortly be holding a Coffee Morning on the 31st March.
If you want your child to join the new Pack, please apply now.
First the good news - Monday's Beaver Colony is going strong and the Beavers there are having lots of fun playing games and making craft activities, even cooking soup at a recent meeting. Monday night Beavers has a great Leader team who have been supporting the Thursday night Colony , which has no Leaders at all.
The bad news is that since no adults have come forward to assist in Leader roles, and we cannot keep asking volunteers to double up, even triple their committment, we have taken the decision to close the Thursday night Beaver Colony until a Leader team can be found. Thursday Beavers can move to Mondays, and we will start taking in new members once we have spaces on Monday nights.
The final good news is that we hope to be able to find two adults willing to take on Thursday night Beavers and when we do we will consider reopening the Colony as our waiting list is starting to grow again as we have had no intake since December.
