Amateur Radio
Getting On
Air
The amateur radio resource at Clayton
West is the latest addition to our resources. When the requirements for
the Amateur Radio Operator's license changed we realised that there was an
opportunity to train young people to become radio operators.
With funding from the Youth Foundation,
Greenhead Masons and the Parish Council we managed to subsidise
the cost of training and also buy some basic radio equipment to operate
on 2 metres.
Training was provided by John Carter
from Wakefield District Scouts and Wakefield Amateur Radio
Group.
The first course for foundation level
had some 18 applicants from Scouts and Explorers.
